By increasing the maritime-land trade corridor access between China and Singapore to 304 ports of the world’s 106 countries and regions, it has better and more firmly combined the Economic Belt of the Silk Road and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
The new International Land and Sea Trade corridor creates a trade and logistics gateway jointly established by the state-level regions of Singapore and western China. Chongqing Municipality is at the center of the corridor operation.
The goods to be transported are first transported to Beibu Bay in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region by different types of transportation methods such as rail, road or waterways, and from there they are loaded on ships and shipped to other parts of the world by sea.
The corridor in question offers a more convenient option for the western Chinese provinces and autonomous regions than sending goods to the east coast and loading them on a ship.
In the January-June period, the land-sea section of the trade corridor transported 47,880 standard container equivalents. This amount corresponds to an increase of 147 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the data of the logistics and business management center of the corridor.
On the other hand, in the first half of the year, sea and land combined transport trains departing from Chongqing sailed 952 times, which represents an increase of 147 percent compared to the first half of the previous year.
