Efforts to clean up the mucilage in the Marmara Sea continue. The mucilage cleaning works, which started within the scope of the “Action Plan for the Sea of Marmara” of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, continue in Tuzla as well.
Cleaning works on the coastline of Tuzla, which is one of the longest coastal districts of Istanbul, started to yield results and the sea returned to its former color. Tuzla Mayor Dr. Şadi Yazıcı followed the mucilage cleaning works on site.
President Yazıcı said, “We said that we would be able to reach our old sea in a short time with the coordination of our Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Istanbul Governorship. We are starting to get the first results of this. The sea has returned to its former color on Tuzla Beach, which is among the longest beaches in Istanbul.
“TOGETHER WE WILL SAVE MARMARA”
Tuzla Mayor Dr. Şadi Yazıcı said, “The mucilage cleaning works we carry out under the coordination of our Ministry of Environment and Urbanization have started to yield results. While the oxygenation of the sea continues, mucilage is collected with solid liquid absorbing vehicles. As a result of the works carried out in Tuzla Beach, the sea returned to its former color. Now we will continue to work to protect it,” he said.
