Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) is carrying out a study by the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Technology to raise awareness about the decrease in fish stocks in the seas.
Some fish varieties are grown at the Marine Creatures Research and Application Center in Dardanos Campus of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University.
Approximately 25 thousand bream and sea bass cubs produced in the center in the last 4 years were released into the sea.

Stating that one of them is to conduct scientific research in the sea, Önal said, “Our other aim is to actually bring the sea to land. This is one of the missions of our Aquaculture Department. we host. ” said.
Önal emphasized that the consumption of sea creatures, and consequently the diversity of species, has increased especially in recent years.
Explaining that they are working on the breeding of various mollusc species and crustacean species, especially fish, Önal said, “Bream and sea bass are among the creatures we work most often in terms of fish types, and oysters and shrimps are among the other sea creatures.” used the expression.
Prof. Dr. Önal also stated that they are trying to raise awareness about the decrease in fish stocks in the seas.
Explaining that they brought the fish they raised in the facility to the sea in this context, Önal said, “We left about 10 thousand sea bass in the first 2 years. For the last 2 years, we have been producing sea bream lava in our facilities. We leave these fish to the sea when they weigh 1-5 grams after 3-4 months. We brought together a thousand fish with the sea. ” he spoke.
