Germany’s natural gas import price more than doubled in June compared to the previous year. In the first half of the year, the increase was 38 percent.
According to data from Germany’s Federal Office for Economics and Export Control (BAFA), Germany’s natural gas import price in June 2021 increased by more than 2 times compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching an average of 19.23 euro/megawatt-hour. Prices increased by 7.1% compared to the previous month.
In the first half of 2021, the country’s natural gas import price increased by 38.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching an average of 16.43 euro/MWh.
GAS IMPORT VOLUME INCREASED 3.5%
Germany’s import volume increased 3.5% year on year to 106.8 terawatt-hour in June. In the first 6 months of 2021, import volume decreased by 1.5% year on year to 742.1 TWh.
