Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum said that in order to solve the mucilage problem in the Marmara Sea, it is necessary to add fish to the Marmara Sea and to impose a restriction on hunting, with the work to be done with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum answered questions about the mucilage cleaning works in the Marmara Sea.
Stating that fish can be released into the Marmara Sea with the work to be done with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Authority said, “There may be a restriction on fishing. Let alone holding it, we need to add it,” he said.
“OXYGEN THE RIGHT METHOD”
Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum said:
“(Devices that will increase the oxygen level of the Marmara Sea) The results will be out by the end of July. It seems to have increased on one side, but increased in Pendik. There is no more on the other side, the Gulf is a bit bad. There is trouble in breathing. Even if it gets oxygen in that pollution when it is dirty, maybe the living things there cannot reach that life cycle again. Maybe we’ll see in the process. Pendik Marina is relatively better. Friends said ‘there is something positive there’. Oxygen is the correct method. Must see the end of July. But we recovered quite a bit, we made a lot of progress in cleaning. If we continue the normal cyclical life below, the fish eat it, the plants are fed, so there is a cycle already. The problem here is that they overproduce and what happens when there is too much fish feed in that cycle, that’s what happens when they die and shoot up. In fact, if there is enough for each other, if the same cycle of living, food and plant continues, there is no problem, it is necessary to provide it. Of course, the reason for its reproduction is due to the nitrogen and phosphorus inside, due to pollution. The definitive solution is to catch the required level of nitrogen and phosphorus.
(Whether the devices that will increase the oxygen level will be expanded or not) Here we will see the results, we will decide after seeing it. But the oxygen in the sea needs to be increased. There is no doubt there. Oxygen should increase, nitrogen and phosphorus should decrease. He’s the target. We are trying to do that with these studies.
18 MILLION PENALTY
(Using sea bacteria to clean mucilage) Bacteria business is also taken care of, followed. We continue to work with universities again. Control was very important. We conducted 8,500 inspections, fined 18 million, and closed 41 businesses. This is also important. That means too much oxygen. So far, 10,700 cubic meters of mucilage has been cleaned. Work is carried out in a total of 592 regions, of which 408 are from land and 184 from the sea. We have eliminated that view of the first day. There is a possibility of repetition, of course, but if we adjust the loop there to be self-sufficient, it will not be a problem.
MEASURING DEVICE REQUIRED
(The claim that municipalities discharge wastewater into the sea without treatment) All of them are fitted with measuring devices. We are changing the legislation. Whether it is biological or not, we inspect all of the incoming and outgoing water. By the end of the year, all treatment plants will have to install measuring devices. whether it’s biological or normal.”
