While there have been many attempts for the start of sea voyages between Burgas and Istanbul for years, IDO and Burgaz Marine Terminal Management started work in 2018.
In line with the negotiations, it was expected to start the flights in 2019, but it did not take place. Then, the pandemic caused these sea voyages to be suspended in 2020.
It was announced that Burgaz-Istanbul voyages were at the starting point at the events held in Burgaz Port, which celebrated its 118th anniversary last week.
EXHIBITIONS WILL BE ORGANIZED ON THE ROUTE OF BURGAZ-IGNEADA-ISTANBUL
Stating that negotiations are continuing between the Burgas Municipality and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Burgaz Port Director Diyan Dimov announced that the said voyages will be organized on the Burgaz-İğneada-Istanbul route.
Stating that the mayors of the two cities are also keen on this issue, Dimov said, “Although it has not been clarified yet, in the first stage, two sea buses, one in the morning and one in the evening, will travel to each other. Those who come to Burgas or those who live in Burgas will be able to visit Istanbul if they wish, and those who come to Istanbul and those who come to Istanbul will be able to come to Burgas on a daily basis if they wish. The visits will be organized in the form of touristic excursions in the first stage. Thus, it is envisaged that the cooperation between the two countries will be further developed. ” said.
BETWEEN TWO CITIES WILL DOWN IN 3 HOURS
Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov pointed out that with the start of sea voyages, the distance between Istanbul and Burgas will decrease to 3 hours and the two countries will get closer to each other.
Burgas Governor Valcho Cholakov also stated that the first steps will be taken in the coming days to develop cooperation between Turkey and Bulgaria.
