In 2017, one person lost his life and 10 people were injured due to the fire in an LPG tanker in Kocaeli. At the request of the accused and the lawyers, the president of the court decided to prepare the expert report again.
The fire occurred on April 29, 2017, off the Izmit Bay Tütünçiftlik, in the Körfez district of Kocaeli. According to the information obtained, the LPG tanker belonging to Habaş started to unload the LPG load in the tanks onto the platform in the facilities.

Upon the notification, the Coast Guard, the Navy Command, the Coast Guard teams and the maritime police took action to extinguish the fire. While the fire was extinguished as a result of great efforts, 9 people affected by the fire were taken to the hospital for treatment. One person died by drowning in water.
“EXPERT DIDN’T GIVE A DEFECT REPORT ABOUT HABAŞ AUTHORITIES”
The 14th session of the case continued to be heard at the Kocaeli 1st High Criminal Court. While the lawyers of the parties to the hearing, the pending suspect Suat İspirli, attended the hearing, the other defendants did not attend the hearing. Suat İspirli, the captain of the Serdar 2 boat, who said that he was the victim of the incident, said, “I had 65 percent burns. I was treated for two years and my health went away. Habaş is responsible for the incident, but the experts did not report any faults on Habaş officials. The evidence was also blackened during the investigation phase. The report received does not reflect the truth, I demand that local experts be selected and a report be taken again,” he said.
EXPERT REPORT WILL BE PREPARED AGAIN
The court decided to prepare an expert report again in order to determine the faults of the defendants, complainants, victims, company and company officials separately in the accident that occurred.
