Europe’s largest shipbuilder Fincantieri has taken action to produce 2 gigawatts of battery capacity in the next 5 years.
Efforts continue in different sectors regarding electric vehicles, which are aimed to become widespread in Europe exponentially in the next 10 years.
Fincantieri, Europe’s largest ship manufacturer, decided to invest in electric motors, which were tested in aircraft in previous years but were not yet efficient.
Fincantieri company operating in Italy took action to produce 2 gigawatts of battery capacity in the next 5 years. The company’s goal is to use these batteries on ships of different scales.
NEW FACILITY IS ESTABLISHED
Fincantieri will co-produce the lithium-ion batteries with the Power4 Future company. The Italian company will also work together with the country’s other industry giant, Faist Electronics.
In the statement made by the company, it was stated that a new facility will be built and the batteries here can be used in automotive and land storage units, as well as marine.
BATTERY WEIGHT IS FURTHER
With the developing technologies, the weight of electric motors and their batteries began to decrease. This technology, which is environmentally friendly and freed from the weight handicap, can be used more comfortably in marine vehicles.
