Azerbaijan Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov announced that his country has signed a new natural gas agreement with Turkey.
Azerbaijan Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said that a new agreement was signed for the sale of natural gas to Turkey from the Shah Deniz 1 field.
“In addition to Shah Deniz 2, we will increase natural gas shipments from Shah Deniz 1 (to Turkey),” the Minister told Reuters at the energy conference of Azerbaijan to Turkey Shahbazov held in Moscow.
Shahbazov said that from the Shah Deniz 1 field, 2.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be delivered to Turkey next year, and 3.5 billion cubic meters in 2023.
Azerbaijan’s total natural gas production is expected to reach 43 billion cubic meters next year. Azerbaijan stopped natural gas shipments to Turkey from the Shah Deniz 1 field in April, due to the expiration of the contract.
