Wife of Missing SEACOR Power Worker Sues for Over $25 Million -Reports –

The wife of a missing worker from the SEACOR Power lift boat has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $25 million in damages for gross negligence and violations of federal maritime law, NBC News has confirmed.

The lawsuit was filed by Hannah Daspit, the surviving spouse of Dylan Daspit, who was on board the SEACOR Power when it capsized.

SEACOR Power is owned and operated by Houstonbased SEACOR Marine and was chartered to Talos Energy at the time of the accident.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Houston against Seacor Marine, Seacor Liftboats and Talos Energy, KATC news reported. It was filed under the Jones Act.

The SEACOR Power capsized during a severe squall shortly after departing Port Fourchon, Louisiana on Tuesday, April 13, with 19 people on board. Six crew members were recovered safely.

The Coast Guard suspended its search on Monday at dusk after six days of searching. Seven people remained missing as of Thursday. Dylan Daspit is among the missing.

A salvage and search of the vessel is continuing by Donjon Marine and its partners.

The lawsuit is, to our knowledge, the first filed in connection to the accident.
